Troubleshooting

The errors and causes of errors explained in this section can only serve as a guideline for your examinations. Errors depend on the type of use and the respective operating situation.

The controller does not turn on.

The power supply was not correctly inserted.

Push the power supply into the corresponding slot of the controller until it clicks into place.

The controller does not recognize its bricks/internal shelf.

The loop cable was not connected correctly.

Connect the loop cable.

The controller's display only shows 'Starting up'.

The loop cable was not connected correctly.

Connect the loop cable.

The controller does not pull in the brick.

The brick was not pushed in far enough.

Please wait a moment until the feeder is ejected again. Then gently push the brick into the slot.

The controller does not eject the brick.

The brick is assigned to a library.

Export the brick to the export slot using the backup software.

The brick cannot be exported to the export slot using the backup software.

There is a problem with the communication with the backup software.

Restore communication, or unlock the brick using the emergency option 'Unlock' in the configuration interface.

The configuration interface is not accessible.

The wiring may be faulty.

Check the accessibility of the system using 'Ping' and correct the wiring if necessary.

The SAN share via Fibre Channel is not found.

Possibly. the wrong Fibre Channel port was selected. The numbering is assigned from right (0) to left (1). For a share for 'Everyone', port 1 is usually used.

Correct the port number using the configuration interface or plug the cable into the correct port.

The SAN share via iSCSI is not found.

The data port may not be reachable.

Check the accessibility of the system using 'Ping' and correct the wiring if necessary.

The fans and LEDs are active, even though the controller is turned off.

When shutting down the controller, the internal shelf switches to standby mode to be accessible by other controllers in the cluster.
