Security
Intended Use
The Silent Brick System is intended for the secure storage of large amounts of data. Therefore, the following points are particularly relevant for intended use:
Data backup and recovery
The linear data structure with random access is suitable for backup scenarios."Active" archiving
By having short access times to the data, large amounts of archive data can be stored "actively", meaning they are constantly accessible.File server
Large amounts of files can be stored redundantly, so that a backup is not necessary.Data transport
The removable hard drive containers allow for easy transport of large amounts of data.Replication and synchronization of data
Data can be replicated and stored, for example, as an offline copy. Synchronization of data from the source system to the replica can occur automatically when the replica is reconnected to the source system.
To ensure permanent data integrity, insert offline stored Silent Bricks at least once a year and activate a "Force Audit". If it reaches 100% and no defective drives are detected, the Silent Brick can be removed again.
Predictable misuse
The Silent Brick System is not suitable for use as a database server. This would require too high an access rate.
Tasks of specialized personnel
Only qualified and authorized specialized personnel may perform the following activities on and with the Silent Brick Library:
Assemble components
Commission hardware
Integrate third-party software
Troubleshooting
Dispose of components.
To be allowed to perform these activities on and with the Silent Brick Library, specialized personnel must have been trained in the following areas:
Assembly of IT devices in 19-inch racks
Wiring of IT devices
Installation and operation of server control software.
Prohibition of unauthorized modifications
Unauthorized modifications or alterations of the Silent Brick Library are not permitted.
➤ Only use spare parts and accessories approved by FAST LTA GmbH for use with the Silent Brick Library.
Notice of residual hazards
The Silent Brick System is constructed according to the state of the art and generally accepted rules of technology. Hazard sources have been eliminated as far as possible through constructive measures or secured by suitable devices. Nevertheless, residual hazards may occur when using the Silent Brick Library.
Hazards to persons or impairments of the Silent Brick Library and other tangible assets may arise particularly when the device:
is improperly transported, stored, assembled, commissioned, and maintained by unqualified and unauthorized personnel.
is not used for its intended purpose.
Basic safety instructions
Risk of injury due to electrostatic discharge
➤ Always use an anti-static wrist strap with grounding connection or an anti-static mat with grounding cable when working on the Silent Brick Library.
Crush hazard from falling loads
➤ Always handle the device or its components with two people.
Risk of property damage due to improper handling
➤ Only trained specialized personnel may handle the components of the Silent Brick Library.
