Description of the Silent Brick Controller

The controllers of the Silent Brick System of the X series are available as follows and each comes with a corresponding set of rack rails:

  • Silent Brick Controller X40 Serie

  • Silent Brick Controller X50 Serie

  • Silent Brick Controller X60 Serie

These components are described in more detail in the following sections.

The Rack Rails

The rack rail set is used for mounting the controller/shelf in a 19-inch rack.

Operating Conditions

Risk of property damage due to unsuitable operating conditionsThe components of the Silent Brick Library may be damaged if the device is used outside of its operating conditions. Only use the device within its operating conditions.

To ensure proper operation of the devices, the following framework conditions must be observed:

  • The installation location must be dry and dust-free.

  • The optimal air temperature at the installation location is between +15°C and +25°C.

  • The air temperature at the installation site should not exceed 38°C.

  • The humidity at the installation site should not exceed 65%.

  • The system must not be operated above 2000 meters above sea level.

  • When the components are installed in a rack that can also accommodate other units, the temperature in the rack may rise higher than the ambient temperature, potentially exceeding the maximum allowable ambient temperature for the components. Ensure that none of the ventilation openings are covered after installation to allow for adequate air circulation.

  • The mechanical seating elements within the rack must be designed to support the weight of the components.

  • Due to the total gross weight, a fully equipped Silent Brick Shelf must be mounted on a sturdy shelf.

  • Do not overload the electrical connections on the power supply. Please refer to the technical specifications in the manual.

  • A reliable grounding must always be ensured. Please note that the integration of multiple components can lead to an aggregation of the respective leakage currents, which can result in an unacceptably high leakage current (e.g., when a component is installed in a rack that can also accommodate additional units).

Type label

The type label is affixed as a sticker on one side of the controller housing or the shelf housing. The type label contains the following information:

  • Product designation

  • Serial number

  • Barcode

  • Performance features

  • CE marking.
