The Silent Brick Max is a non-portable Silent Brick in the form factor of a 19" rack with one height unit. The Silent Brick Max also contains twelve hard drives, but in the 3.5-inch form factor. Due to the larger hard drives, the Silent Brick Max offers significantly more capacity than a single Silent Brick.
The Silent Brick Max behaves like a Silent Brick but can only be operated via the Silent Brick Controller. The connection is established via SAS.
Mixed operation of Silent Bricks and Silent Brick Max units within a single system is possible, but not within an SNAS or SNAS ERC volume.
