Wiring Controller G-Series

If your Silent Brick System consists of multiple controllers and Shelves (e.g., one controller and one Shelf), you must first perform the following steps:

  • ➤ Establish the internal network connection between the controller and the Shelf.

  • ➤ Use connectors (19) for controller communication and connectors (18) for Shelf communication.

  • ➤ Establish the SAS connection using the SAS connectors (17).

If your Silent Brick System consists of a single device, or if you have already connected multiple devices, proceed as follows:

  • ➤ For a Silent Brick Controller G5000 Rev. 1, connect the Ethernet loop cable to link the controller with its internal Bricks.

  • ➤ For a Silent Brick Controller G5000 Rev. 2, connect the Ethernet loop cable and the SAS loop cable to link the controller with its internal Bricks.

  • ➤ For a Silent Brick Controller G5200, connect the Ethernet loop cable and both SAS loop cables to link the controller with its internal Bricks.

  • ➤ Use connectors (19) for controller communication and connectors (18) for Shelf communication.

  • ➤ Connect the device to the management network (optional).

    • ➤ Use the management ports (20) for this purpose.

  • ➤ Connect the device to the data/management network.

  • ➤ Use the data ports (21) for this purpose.

  • ➤ Connect the device to the power supply network.

  • ➤ Use the connectors on the power supplies (16) for this purpose. If possible, connect each power supply to a separate electrical circuit.
